Meet the Owner
T. Adair was born in Hazelcrest, IL. At the age 18 months she was caught in a terrible house fire, and had to be airlifted to the hospital per the severity of her burns. The burns left scars on her cheeks, forehead, right wrist and back lower leg. She was raised in Seattle, WA by her mother who worked in finance and step-father who was in the military and had gotten stationed in Washington. Needless to say her childhood wasn't all bad but she had to grow tough skin, and quick, because we all know that kids can be very mean. Luckily her mother worked day in and day out to instill a kind of self-love in her that no one would ever be able to take away. It also made her the caring, kind hearted person she is, oddly enough. She also never attempted to cover her burns up with makeup, she feels they give her a beauty advantage, they're accessories that most people don't have.
T. Adair's first interest or practice as a makeup artist was in her Senior year in high school, in choir class of all classes. There was a young lady in the class who was a grade under her that couldn't put on her eyeliner, so T. Adair would do it for her. It was only eyeliner, but that little taste of artistry was all that was needed to realize that she loved how people reacted to her work (even something as simple as eyeliner). Even still she didn't become a makeup artist right away.
Through the course of the coming years T. Adair created her own business profile on thumbtack and started doing house calls for traditional weave installations. That's how she knew she never wanted to seriously go into the hair industry, it took too long and her fingers would cramp from braiding. So she decided to go back to school.
While going to school first for business, getting married, and then changing to an Associates of Applied Science to transfer to a four year and get her RN, she had a baby and only three classes shy of the degree she decided to go tour Gary Manuel Aveda Institute on Capital Hill, in Seattle. Not for cosmetology, but for esthetics. She had decided to take a break from trying to become a nurse and get her license for skin care.
To her great surprise her nursing and esthetics actually coupled together, opening her eyes to all new possibilities in the beauty industry. During the course of her schooling she found several more interests and got trained to do lash extensions before she graduated. She graduated 2 weeks earlier than she was supposed to, with the highest GPA all while working full time at Red lobster and being a mom. She connected with the regional manager of MAC Cosmetics during the career fair, the school holds for graduating professionals.
After graduation, she started working at the MAC counter in the Downtown Seattle Nordstrom retailer. Immediately she was a constant top seller at the counter. Eventually she took over Viva Glam Ambassador for the counter, pushing increases of 3% or more in sales per month compared to the previous years sales. After working for Nordstroms for a year at the MAC counter and going through MAC basic training (MAC Makeup Artist Boot Camp), she went on to work in a salon for 6 months to focus solely on her skills as a lash technician. She decided to go back into the work force at which point she applied and got hired at BECU. During that time she helped open her first mink lash business in Detroit, MI as well as trained her partner on how to do lash extensions. She then rebranded the business for Washington State and now we have T. Adair Beauty PLLC! Her plans are to expand her brand to include a full makeup and skin care line. Stay tuned she has more up her sleeve!
